In the first month of the year, the Economically Active Population (EAP) of Mexico reached 57.7 million people, of which 55.5 million were employed. Which meant an increase of 3.7 million employed people, compared to January 2021.
The EAP groups people aged 15 and over who have a job or were actively looking for one during the reference period.
Thus, the unemployment rate, with seasonally adjusted figures, stood at 3.6% as a proportion of the PEA, two tenths below the level observed in December 2021.
For its part, the underemployment rate, which are the people who declared they need and are available to work more hours, stood at 9.3% in January 2022; 1.5 percentage points below December levels.
