UNDP launches urgent call to local suppliers to support recovery after Hurricane Melissa

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Cuba called this Tuesday for local economic actors who can immediately contribute to the recovery efforts after the passage of Hurricane Melissa, which still affects part of the national territory.

The initiative seeks to map companies and suppliers with immediate availability of essential supplies, capable of contributing to the humanitarian response that is organized together with the Cuban Government and other agencies of the United Nations System.

The call is aimed at entities that have materials or resources useful for emergency and reconstruction work, and that can deliver them quickly.

Those who wish to join can register through the online form or through the QR code available on the official UNDP networks in Cuba.

The organization clarified that registration does not imply automatic acceptance as a UNDP supplier, but will allow the identification of local companies with the capacity for immediate response to emergencies. In addition, it encouraged interested parties to formally register as suppliers in the Tenders section of its website to participate in future processes.

“This is a humanitarian action where every second counts,” highlighted the UNDP in its call, underlining the importance of having reliable information about the resources available in the country.
