Bettors with money deposited in irregular bets (electronic betting companies) have eight days from this Tuesday (1st) to withdraw the amounts. From the 11th, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) will remove access to around 600 pages that did not ask for authorization to the Ministry of Finance to operate in Brazil.
The list with 199 authorized brands operating in the country was published on Tuesday night (1st) by the Ministry of Finance. Upon disclosure, the user must consult the list to see if the website or the company is in it. If not, the money is deposited in a website irregular and must be removed so as not to cause harm to the bettor.
The user will be able to consult the companies that requested authorization from the Ministry of Finance until September 30th. The relationship is in Betting Management System (Sigap) of the ministry. In total, 180 companies submitted 185 requests, of which 31 were filed on September 30, the last day of the deadline. The difference is that Sigap provides the company’s registered name, not the company’s trademark. websitewhich often makes consultation difficult.
Step by step
To withdraw the money, the bettor must do login in the app or on the betting website. In this case, you must click on the area where the balance appears and click on the withdrawal option. The user will have the option of receiving the money via Pix or by available electronic transfer (TED). Transfers via Pix are more advantageous as they are instantaneous and operate 24 hours a day, while transfers can only be made on business days and are not carried out at night or on weekends.
If the user requests a withdrawal and does not receive the money, they must contact the application support, before the country is definitively banned. If the balance is not deposited, the first option is to file a complaint with a consumer protection agency, such as Procon.
Fraud
If there is no response, the chances that the bettor has been a victim of fraud increase. In this case, the process passes to the criminal sphere. The user must register a police report and contact the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which can identify requests for reimbursement for the same website and file a class action lawsuit.
Even when going to court, bettors need to be aware of the fact that the majority of bets are foreign and do not have legal representatives in Brazil. This makes it difficult to hold the company accountable and punish it. In any case, the advice is to contact the police and the courts as quickly as possible to prevent the charges from becoming invalid and the process becoming time-barred.
The destruction of the portals will be the responsibility of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), in an operation similar to that of the closure of the activities of X, the old Twitter, which stopped operating in the country at the end of August. According to the announcement promoted by the ministry, companies that have not received or requested authorization to continue operating in the country will be banned.
Severe supervision
With the publication of the list of companies authorized to operate in the country, the Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance will be responsible for supervising the sequence of activities in coordination with Anatel, the Central Bank and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
It is worth noting that the list is not definitive, considering that companies that were left out can request authorization from the Ministry of Finance to operate. However, they must wait a period of up to 150 days for a return on definitive release, which may only happen in 2025.
Before that, in December, the Treasury must publish a new list with the conclusion of the documentation analysis of the companies presented this Tuesday (1st), checking whether they are in compliance with the established regulations.
