The former national director of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), Martín Perez Bancherosaid that the undersecretary of that portfolio, Remo Monzeglio, “is a per diem collection machine”.
“The representation of the ministry has to be more coordinated. When I went out it was with certain missions. what of Monzeglio was that he had no reason. Almost everything was to Punta del Este. I understand that he stayed in the hotels for free and charged the same per diem. That has to do with the ethics of each one,” attacked the former director, who in July 2021 refused to sign a file authorizing the purchase to renew signage for the months of March, April and May.
On the other hand, he said that Minister Tabaré Viera’s management “hurts”, he said on Informal Breakfasts (Channel 12). “Obviously I didn’t have a good time. The ceases are and can happen. Officials who did not look to the side were sanctioned by the Cardoso administration and continue to be sanctioned. This sanction that is kept for me is wrong. Viera maintains that behavior”, recriminated Pérez Banchero.
Finally, he expressed that he hoped that the Colorado Party would deal with the Cardoso issue at the time, but “he made a frightful silence.”
In this regard, the former Director of Tourism considered that “Corruption is in all the parties and it is more in the parties that govern”. Despite this, Pérez Banchero believes that he is “doing good” for the party, since he is “in his worst historical moment” but he tries to “revive it” and show the voter that “there is a sector that wants to work with honesty and transparency”.
