Rubro-Negro rose to sixth place, with 15 points. To continue in the G8, the Cariocas hope that Ferroviária or Atlético-MG, who are still on the field for the tenth round, do not win their respective commitments, against Santos and São Paulo. The Gremistas Girls, with the defeat, dropped to the tenth position with the same 13 points as Real Brasília, eighth place, but behind by the number of victories.

The coach of the Brazilian women’s team, Pia Sundhage, accompanied the match in Gávea. The coach was accompanied by assistant Lilie Persson and performance analyst André Batista.

The victory was built at the beginning of the first half. At six minutes, following an exchange of passes at the entrance of the area, Maria Alves dominated from the right and hit a cross to open the scoring. At 14, the striker crossed low for midfielder Leidiane to complete for the nets in the small area.

The Grêmio players had chances to react, but they didn’t take advantage of it. In extra time in the first half, striker Cássia suffered a penalty, but midfielder Karla Alves charged out. At 19 minutes of the final stage, the side Monalisa was sent off. Even with one more, the tricolors could not be dangerous and Flamengo managed the positive result.

Next Saturday (4), for the 11th round, Rubro-Negro will face São José at Estádio Martins Pereira, in São José dos Campos (SP), at 3 pm (Brasilia time). On Sunday (5), at 11 am, Grêmio faces the classic against Internacional at Estádio Vieirão, in Gravataí (RS).
