UNCP admission exam applicants claim there was alleged fraud

Around 40 people, including parents and applicants from the National University of Central Peru (UNCP), with signs in hand, gathered and protested outside the university campus, alluding to the alleged “fraud” that had been committed in the entrance exam held on Saturday, August 3, especially with evaluations for the Law and Social Work courses.

Outraged, Mrs. Luz Calcina, mother of an applicant, expressed her discomfort since, according to her, she had taken the exam to be verified by professionals and the result was a passing grade very different from what was published.

The applicant for the Law degree, with initials AAM (17), was very upset and demanded that they give her real grade. “On top of that, the tutor who was in my classroom was 10 minutes late in handing out the booklets and was on his cell phone all the time,” she said.

“My daughter and I sacrificed a lot and even went without a break so that she could prepare at the same university academy. I will be patient, but it is not fair, my daughter feels very bad about this,” said Marleni Bonifacio, a mother, through tears.

The concerned applicants did not stop demanding explanations until the legal advisor of the UNCP, Attorney Octavio Cartagena, showed up and announced that today they would review the cases one by one in order to verify and establish a solution based on the results. “If there was fraud, the four applicants who were found with electronic devices would not have been arrested”he added.

To do so, applicants must go to the Admissions Office today, Monday, August 5, at 7:30 am, bringing the registration form and the exam prospectus that the students keep. Despite the announcement, applicants continued to demand transparency in the results.
