Administrative workers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) yesterday held a blockade for more than four hours in front of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit on Insurgentes Sur, near the Nápoles Metrobús station, demanding a 20 percent salary increase.

The general secretary of the UNAM Workers Union (STUNAM), Carlos Hugo Morales, explained to the press that they are also demanding an increase in the budget of the university, as well as that of all public higher education institutions.

Around 500 university employees held a rally and blocked the road, which prevented the Metrobús line 1 from operating.
