A promotional video of a massive activity to celebrate the birthday of the rector of the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (Unachi), Etelvina de Bonagas, on July 9 has caused criticism and opinions, as well as questions about the funds to finance the event.
Eiser García, president of the Faculty of Humanities and principal before the General University Council, stressed that they are not against anyone being able to celebrate their birthday, “but on this occasion we can perceive some reelectionist intentions that we can be against, there are already two administration periods.
“We do not blame the rector, we blame the Legislative and Executive Branches for allowing her to celebrate her birthday with these re-election intentions,” he specified.
Garcia explained that he has seen invitations that some students will demonstrate on the day of the event to show their rejection of this activity.
