UNAB denounces "irresponsibility" of the regime in the face of the emergency of Hurricane Julia

The Blue and White National Unity (A B) demanded that the Daniel Ortega regime attend to the population directly affected by the intense rains and winds caused by the hurricane Juliadowngraded to a tropical storm during its passage through the country.

“We particularly express our closeness to the affected people on the Caribbean Coast who are incommunicado and that, irresponsibly, the regime’s authorities did not carry out the necessary evaluation in the face of this type of climatic event,” the opposition organization denounced through a statement published this Sunday, October ninth.

They pointed out that the phenomenon has left municipalities flooded, flooded houses, fallen trees, suspension of electricity, homes without roofs and other havoc in its wake in various departments of the country.

The members indicated that, in these moments of natural crisis, the State of Nicaragua must play a significant role to safeguard the lives of the population settled in the affected areas.

But, if those affected by Hurricane Julia are not attended to, the Ortega Murillo regime “will be responsible for omission and lack of action in times of natural crises such as those that Nicaragua is experiencing these days,” UNAB ruled.

The organization took the opportunity to call on citizens to follow the recommendations in the face of this type of event.

The government spokeswoman, Rosario Murillo, confirmed that there have been reports of a drop in the telephone line, a drop in fiber optics and the supply of electricity has been suspended in the plants that serve Corn Island and Bluefields, where they are incommunicado.

According to Murillo’s report, there are no people killed by the passage of Julia.

At noon, Tropical Storm Julia presents maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h (decreasing by 15 km/h), with a translation speed of 26 km/h (increasing by 2 km/h) heading west, according to the recent bulletin of the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (Ineter).
