The United Nations Office for Human Rights said on January 3 that 6,919 civilians have been killed and 11,075 wounded in Ukraine since the war began.
The UN warned that these figures are surely much higher, especially in regions where the fighting is more intense and where the monitoring work of the organization’s observers is more difficult. To date, 2,737 men, 1,842 women, 216 boys and 175 girls have been identified among the deceased.

According to the office report, 2,401 men, 1,729 women, 321 boys and 233 girls were injured in the first ten months of the war. The entity added that in the provinces of Donetsk and Lugansk the victims of the war increased to 9,736 people.
In December 2022, the UN recorded 188 deaths and 613 injuries in Ukraine, which represents an increase of 15.4% compared to the previous monthly count of victims.
Most of the attacks (86%) took place in the regions of the country controlled by the Ukrainian government, while 14% of them occurred in the Russian-occupied Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
According to the entity, 93% of the victims died or were injured in bombardments and the rest did so due to antipersonnel mines and other types of explosives, reported the news agency EFE.
