The mayor of Rocha, Alejo Umpiérrez, took stock of the new version of the La Pedrera Carnivaloriented towards families and “tranquility”, noting that it was demonstrated that it was possible “to have fun without predation”.

Zero tolerance of alcohol and the “demonization” of consumption
The mayor also referred to the zero tolerance for alcohol consumption while driving and the positions contrary to this measure, such as that of the mayor of Maldonado, the nationalist Enrique Antia. And this does not have to make them take a taxi or stop driving their vehicle. But hey , these are visions where prohibitionism threatens responsible freedom,” he added.
Although he was against zero tolerance, he considered that the discussion is “praised” and “it doesn’t make sense” to give it back.
“there is a demonization that has ended up hurting domestic consumption and the wine industry and winemakers who have made a strong investment in reconversation,” he said.
