Ulises Lara announced this Friday afternoon that he was appointed as head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Investigation of Relevant Matters in the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
“I share with you that yesterday (June 1), Ms. Ernestina Godoy has seen fit to appoint me Head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Investigation of Relevant Matters. I appreciate the trust placed in me, rest assured that as always, we will be working for justice,” wrote Lara López on her account on the social network X.
The official initially collaborated with the current head of the FGR, Ernestina Godoy, as an advisor to the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX), to later become spokesperson until the end of 2023 and later served as office manager in 2024, after Godoy’s departure after not being ratified by the local Congress to continue in office.
Since May 2025, Ulises Lara served as head of the delegation of the Attorney General’s Office in the state of Morelos.
Who is Ulises Lara López?
Ulises Lara López has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He has a Doctorate in Law, which he completed in 2020 at the Executive University of the State of Mexico. In 2028 he concluded with a specialty in Negotiation and Management of Political and Social Conflicts from UNAM.
In 2000 he completed a Master’s Degree in Municipal Public Management and Administration through the Carlos III University of Spain.
He also has a Master’s Degree in Government and Public Affairs from the UNAM Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, which he obtained in 2004.
In his political career, he has served as Director of Strategy Design, responsible for the Transition Unit of the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City in 2019.
From 2015-2016 he was in charge of the direction of the Institute of Higher Secondary Education of the Federal District (IEMS).
He was also executive director of housing promotion and programs at the Mexico City Housing Institute (INVI) from 2008 to 2010.
