The deputies of the UDI bench, Juan Antonio Coloma, Cristián Labbé, Flor Weisse, Henry Leal and Cristian Moreira, filed a complaint against the former Minister of Social Development, Jeanette Vega, for the “cover-up” of the crimes of theft of wood, usurpation and attack on authority that are attributed to the leader of the Arauco-Malleco Coordinator (CAM), Héctor Llaitul.
The parliamentarians explained that the legal action responds to the attempted call made by the former Secretary of State to the CAM representative —which ended up costing her removal from office—, directly summoning the Government of President Gabriel Boric, for which they also requested that The Prosecutor’s Office summons the five ministers of the political committee to testify: Izkia Siches (Interior), Giorgio Jackson (Segpres), Camila Vallejo (Segegob), Antonia Orellana (Women and Gender Equity) and Mario Marcel (Treasury).

“In the event that the telephone call had materialized, as was the intention of former Minister Vega, and that said content had been the public role acquired by Mr. Llaitul, by virtue of which the crimes have been committed by the which she is accused, it is quite reasonable to maintain that the former minister would indeed be within the conduct indicated by the Penal Code as an accessory to these crimes, in view of the dates of the contact and the possible content of that call, ”says the complaint. entered by the UDI deputies.
In the letter, in addition, the UDI militants added that the decision to summon the five ministers of the political committee is justified with the aim of “ruling out another type of communication with Mr. Llaitul by the Government of Chile and the authorities. mentioned, which could fit within the same alleged cover-up hypothesis against former Minister Vega.”
In this line, one of the promoters of the complaint, the deputy Juan Antonio Coloma, pointed out that the resignation of the former head of Social Development “is insufficient”, adding that “it is essential to know what happened after that first contact by phone, if there was any other conversation with Héctor Llaitul or if they even met with him in the South Macrozone”, as well as “to know if the former minister acted individually or if President Boric and part of his political committee were aware of the attempts to talk with the leader of the CAM”.
For his part, deputy Cristián Labbé noted that “when this government, throughout its history, has had a condescending discourse with terrorism and violence as a form of political action, it is logical that they have wanted to negotiate covertly with Héctor Llaitul”, reiterating that “it is urgent that the Public Ministry order different proceedings focused on the ministers that make up the political committee, in order to determine whether or not President Boric and his closest team were behind this political operation.”
