The deputies of the Independent Democratic Union (UDI), Osvaldo Urrutia and Sergio Bobadilla, blamed the Jesuit Migrant Service for the current situation in the north, accusing them that “it left the Government tied by the hand”, after going to court to prevent the expulsion of illegal migrants.
Bobadilla and Urrutia branded the Jesuit Migrant Service (SJM) as “hypocrites”, after they blamed the State for the crisis that northern Chile is going through due to the massive and illegal entry of foreigners.
In this regard, the parliamentarians emphatically questioned the Service, accusing them of being the main responsible for the situation in the north, where they recalled the resistance they put up during the last year before the justice system in order to prevent the expulsion of migrants who entered illegally. illegally to Chile across the borders.
Because of this, Urrutia and Bobadilla referred to Jesuits in harsh terms. “The attitude shown today by the Jesuit Migrant Service is quite hypocritical, because they were the ones who, through amparo appeals, prevented the Government from carrying out the expulsion of illegal migrants. Until their interference, justice understood that entry through a not enabled was more than enough reason to proceed with an expulsion,” they criticized.
“The Jesuits opposed it and left the government with its hands tied, giving a sign of impunity towards the rest of the countries,” they added.
Along the same lines, the parliamentarians insisted on questioning. “Now that the northern zone of Chile is collapsed and an anti-immigrant sentiment has begun in the population, they decide to wash their hands and not assume the responsibility they have in this crisis,” they blurted out.
“The attitude of the Jesuits is at least cowardly and tremendously false, because they decide to remain silent and criticize the State when they were the ones who mainly opposed the expulsion of irregular foreigners. They were the ones who created this feeling against the immigrants, wanting to encourage irregular income in order to increase poverty in our country and continue instilling a class struggle,” they lambasted.
The deputies summoned the Service to “rectify” their position regarding the situation. “They are the main responsible for the massive arrival of migrants, who, seeing that there was a service willing to represent them in court, did not hesitate for a second to enter our country irregularly,” they concluded.
