With the aim of ensuring the continuity of the work they carry out throughout the national territory and mitigating the effects of the increase in fuel prices on the budget of all the companies in the country, the deputies of the UDI, Henry Leal and Álvaro Carter, made a called on the Government to present a bill that exempts Firefighters of Chile from paying the specific fuel tax.
“Resources become so scarce”, declared deputies Leal and Carter, “that it is their own members who often pay for their equipment. Notwithstanding the foregoing, they are always there when an emergency arises, which has earned them recognition as one of the best evaluated institutions by citizens”.
“The high level of fuel prices and the complicated economic scenario that our country is facing, added to the historic rise in the international price of oil due to the war in Russia and Ukraine, make it necessary for us to reconsider the need to reduce the tax in special form for the Fire Departments”, underlined the UDI parliamentarians.
Lastly, deputies Leal and Carter stressed that “it is possible to maintain that there is a large budgetary burden on the Chilean Fire Department and, therefore, it is convenient to establish a reduction in the specific tax on fuels for the benefit of this noble institution and, thus, , ensure that they can continue to provide their services in such a professional manner that they have done so far for the benefit of the entire population”.
