The UDI candidates for the Constitutional Council, led by the former Minister of the Interior Rodrigo Delgadoyesterday they sent a letter to the President gabriel boric. In the letter, they proposed to eliminate the power of presidential pardon in the new Magna Carta.
Let us remember that President Boric granted 13 pardons at the end of December 2022. They were addressed to 12 convicted in the context of the social outbreak and to the ex-frontist Jorge Mateluna. Subsequently, senators from Chile Vamos and Democrats filed appeals before the Constitutional Court (TC), seeking to declare seven pardons unconstitutional, which the TC rejected yesterday.
