commission of inquiry
The UDI deputies seek to review the actions of the Government -if there was undue interference- in the procedures of the projects that were subject to environmental impact assessment and its results.
The president of the bench, Jorge Alessandrispecified in Third, The creation of this commission responds to the case of the Fundamenta towers in Ñuñoa, since they have everything documented that they sought to reject a project that had the permits processed.
“Not only is there undue pressure, but an important project for the city is paralyzed and 3,500 jobs are eliminated. It is the worst form of politics, the things that we cannot accept,” he added.
Deputy Christian Moreira He indicated that there is evidence that the Government, for ideological reasons, is paralyzing investment projects in our country, which causes problems in the economy and job creation.
On the other hand, the legislator, Cristián Labbé, expressed that they would expect those involved to present their resignation after verifying their participation in the events. It is the reason why this Investigative Commission is being sought.
Complaint
Patricia Hidalgo filed a complaint with the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR), accusing the presidential delegate of the Metropolitan region, Constanza Martínez, of putting pressure on her when she was a Social Development minister.
Hidalgo presented some conversations in a WhatsApp group called “Environmental Commission”, created by michael shellMartínez’s chief of staff, which indicated the steps to follow on different investment projects.
Such was the case of the Egaña Comunidad Sustentable project, in which its rejection was requested and which was finally achieved with five votes against and two in favor. Said project is currently awaiting the ruling of the Supreme Court to reactivate its works, which consider an investment of US$300 million.
There are also complaints of approval of other projects through the Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) after holding private meetings with the actors that are part of the Evaluation Commission.
