He passed away this Saturday afternoon Lyedgers Tameydshi Encarnación Peñathe security agent who had been injured last Thursday in the shooting that occurred at the headquarters of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).
He died while receiving medical attention at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). of the Dominican Cuban Medical Centerwhere he was operated on last Thursday night, as confirmed by the university’s Director of Communications, Roberto Tejada.
Meanwhile, Juan Manuel Mendezthe other member of the security team who was injured, underwent hand surgery on Friday morning.
“With deep sadness, we report the unfortunate death of Lyedgers Tameydshi Encarnación Peña, a member of the security team who was injured in the incident that occurred last Thursday, October 16 on the university campus of our headquarters,” lamented the UASD through its X account.
The detainee
Due to the incident, the National Police arrested Alexander Jiménez Galván, 35 years old, resident of Santo Domingo Oeste. His arrest occurred moments after the shooting thanks to the collaboration of university employees. Jiménez Galván was a law student.

According to UASD spokesperson, Roberto Tejada, the previous Wednesday the young man had had an altercation with security members after being parked in a dark area of campus.
The employees withheld his documents because his vehicle was parked in a prohibited area. The next day, the student returned to the university to retrieve them, accompanied by another person, and had a 12-gauge shotgun in his vehicle, with which he fired several shots.
One of the bullets hit Encarnación Peña directly in the face.
