Saint Dominic. The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) formally proposed to the National Council of the Judiciary (CNM) to the magistrate Ygnacio Pascual Camacho Hidalgo to continue as president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE)highlighting his exemplary career, extensive experience and commitment to Dominican justice.
The application was presented by the dean of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, Héctor Pereyra Espaillatthrough a communication addressed to the president of the CNM and the Republic, Luis Abinaderas well as the other members of said constitutional body.
The document was deposited in the CNM Secretariat last Monday, October 13, 2025highlighting the academic, professional and ethical merits of Judge Camacho Hidalgo.
“In the academic field, Judge Camacho is a Most Meritorious Teacher of our Faculty. Due to his teaching training and institutional leadership, he has promoted the training of Court personnel and has contributed significantly to the strengthening of the Dominican electoral system,” the communication highlights.
The UASD emphasizes that Judge Camacho Hidalgo is a renowned academic, jurist and exemplary citizenwith an outstanding record of service to the university and Dominican society.
“He has been a teacher for generations in the Law career and professor coordinator at the UASD,” the letter states.
The academic institution considers that, due to its experience, professional merits and commitment to electoral transparencythe magistrate must be considered for a second re-appointment in front of the Superior Electoral Court.
Finally, the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences reaffirmed its support for strengthening the Democracy and transparency in electoral processes of the Dominican Republicvalues that, in his opinion, Judge Camacho Hidalgo embodies.
