Two young men arrested for desecrating graves in Tucupita

The Tucupita police captured in flagrante two 17-year-olds whose identities are withheld because they are minors.

Those now detained desecrated graves in the old cemetery of the town.

According to the police report, it was a follow-up after recurring complaints by several neighbors near the cemetery, who heard strange noises at night.

The Tucupita police established a follow-up protocol and last Monday, they captured two young people who were dismantling several coffins.

These people would steal the metals, take them to a house, then sell them. Investigations have begun to determine who the people behind the purchases are, since it is an illegal activity, in addition to exposing minors under this type of action.

The parents and representatives of the detainees are also being questioned and approached by the child and adolescent protection entities.

The Tucupita police commander, Milagros Cequea, urged the population to report any irregular act to security agencies.

He also explained that each security component maintains a confidentiality mechanism to guarantee the protection of the complainant.
