In what could be a new pattern of extrajudicial executions in Caracas with the Petare police massacre, family members denounced that Ramón Ignacio Méndez was taken on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from Caricuao, Libertador municipality. They looked for Jonathan Jhovani Brito Carmona in Santa Teresa del Tuy, Independencia municipality
The relatives of Ramón Ignacio Méndez, 40, denounced last Tuesday, October 4, at the Bello Monte morgue, that he was detained by police officers in Caricuao and assassinated last week in Petarewithin the framework of the police operation that left, at least, 11 deceased.
This complaint adds to another made last week, also by relatives, and reveals what could be a new pattern of extrajudicial executions in Caracas.
Ramón Méndez was taken from his home in Telares de Palo Grande, in Ruiz Pineda, Caricuao, Libertador municipality, at 4 in the morning on Thursday, September 29, 2022. He would have been murdered hours later, in the Pedro Camejo sector of Petare. according to members of his family.
The victim was with his wife and daughter, when members of the Police Intelligence Directorateattached to the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), broke into his residence and took him away.
His wife, Isamar Sánchez, said that she did not learn of Méndez’s whereabouts until Saturday, October 1, 2022, when she was informed that the body was in the morgue.
Méndez had three children and was unemployed. In his records, there was a criminal record for robbery.
Last week, relatives of Jonathan Jhovani Brito Carmonaanother killed by alleged confrontation in the Petare operation, had denounced the same practice.
They assured that Brito was taken from Santa Teresa del Tuy, Independencia municipality, on Monday, September 26, 2022 and, presumably, members of the Bolivarian National Police would have murdered him two days later, according to the testimony of the relatives.
