The Venezuelan Trade Union Network denounced this Sunday, the 22nd, the siege by officials of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) against trade unionist Starling Bracho, general secretary of the Corpoelec workers’ union in Falcón state.
The complaint was made by the network through its Twitter account, while condemning “this new attack against the Venezuelan union leadership.” On January 20, the president of the Carabobo College of Nursing, Julio García, was also the victim of a siege at his home by Sebin troops.
According to what García’s wife told the newspaper The Carabobo, officials tried to forcibly enter his home located in the El Trigal urbanization, in Valencia. The union leader was not at home at the time of the incident.
The Inter-union Bloc of Carabobo rejected the acts of persecution. “Julio is fighting for the labor rights of the nursing professionals he represents, and for the unions in a peaceful manner, without violating any law or constitutional norm.”
