Two Tropical waves advance across the Atlantic heading towards the Caribbean Sea and it is expected that between the two they will produce significant rains in Venezuela since this weekend, especially starting Sunday, reported meteorologist Luis Vargas.
Vargas highlighted that Tropical wave number 48 of the season has a 30% chance of becoming a tropical cyclonealthough he clarified that there are no indications that the center of the system will pass directly over the country.
Even so, he indicated that the presence of these waves It will generate atmospheric instability, which could lead to moderate and in some cases heavy rainfall.
Inameh predicts intense rains in regions
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology warned that this weekend – from Saturday the 18th to Sunday the 19th – accumulated rainfall will be recorded. from mild to moderate in much of the national territory, with the highest incidence in the western and southern states of the country.
The rainfall -according to the agency- could exceed the 50 millimeters in areas such as the south of Apure, Mérida and Zulia, while in sectors of Bolívar, Amazonas and the Northeastern region the accumulated amounts could reach up to 100 millimeters.
These conditions will be influenced by the activity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone and the Monsoon Trough, reinforced by diurnal convection and orographic effects. In addition, the passage of tropical wave 47 will contribute to the increase in cloudiness and rains in regions.
The Inameh also said that the presence of Saharan dust will partially reduce the intensity of the rains over the east and center of the country starting Saturday afternoon. However, greater accumulations of rain are expected during the early morning and tomorrow in the center and west, and towards midday in the south and northeast.
The rest of the country will remain with partial to fragmented cloudiness, although with a progressive increase in convective activity.
