Since face-to-face classes began nationwide, at least two schools located in the Arequipa and Iquitos regions have had to close their doors after schoolchildren, teachers and workers tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to the Ministry of Education (Minedu), when a positive COVID-19 case is detected in a school, an epidemiological fence must be established in the student’s classroom, suspending face-to-face classes in the classroom, not in the entire institution.

In this regard, Ramos explained that they made the decision to suspend classes throughout the institution because teachers rotate from class to class and could spread the virus. In addition, they have ordered that rooms, corridors, toilets, among other areas, be fumigated and ventilated.
