The Governor of the State Yaracuy, Leonardo Intoci, accompanied by the Secretary of Citizen Security, Rogelio Vázquez, and of high police and military authorities in the region, on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of the two alleged involved in the murder of the young Genesis Medina, 22 years old, occurred last Saturday afternoon.
The state president corroborated the apprehensions, carried out on Monday, and assured that the investigations to determine the mobile of the event progress firmly and apply the law rigorously.
He also called for not linking the individual action of the alleged murderer, who is an administrative official of the Corps of Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations (Cicpc), with the police institution, which, he said, actively collaborates in the investigation.
He said that in addition to the arrest of the alleged material author of the homicide of the young Genesis Medina, he was also captured to his brother, who would have participated as a collaborator in the attempt to disappear the body of the young woman.
The body of Genesis Medina had been buried in a farm in the coal sector of the Veroes municipality, where he was recovered by the Cicpc after the alleged aggressor confessed the exact place where he had hidden it.
«On behalf of the Bolivarian Government of Yaracuy, I express felt condolences to the Medina Puerta family. Since we knew the disappearance, all monitoring protocols were activated until they give their whereabouts, ”said Intoci.
He also commented that in the next few hours both arrested will be presented to the Public Ministry to formalize the accusations and accelerate the legal process.
The governor explained that, because the case is in full phase of investigation, no more details that can hinder the process will be offered. “I will be in charge of the case and, once the facts are elucidated, the community will be informed,” he said.

Collective repudiation
The entire Yaracuyana community was in suspense since Saturday afternoon, when the disappearance of Genesis Medina was disseminated in the networks, a situation that became sadness and shock this Monday from the moment the arrest of the alleged indicated and the appearance of the lifeless body was reported.
In this sense, the member of the popular feminist movement and official of the Ministry of Women, Gabriela Barrada, directed a public demonstration in the Plaza Teófilo Domínguez de San Felipe with a group of women, against the criminal act and favor of the prompt resolution of the case and the maximum application of justice to those involved.
“Enough of violence, it is time to change those gender patterns and stereotypes that place women in a subordination position and make us more susceptible to psychological, sexual and physical and even feminicide violence. We demand justice for the murder of Genesis Medina and we call on the authorities so that this fact does not impunity,” Barrada said.
He said that the results are not only left in the punitive, in a judicial process and, also, point to a cultural transformation that helps prevent facts such as that registered.
Similarly, the Yaracuy State Legislative Council (Cley) made an official pronouncement with which they demand the application of justice in the resolution of the case of the murdered young woman.
“We strongly reject the femicide of the young Genesis Medina and demand justice. Our Venezuelan legislation establishes the right of women to a life free of violence and, consequently, we exhort the competent authorities to strengthen the preventive and investigations actions against this heinous crime,” said the president of the State Parliament, Angela Rangel.
