Two police officers fall for alleged link to cases of stolen vehicles in Chile
A report from the news program Meganoticias, of the Chilean channel Mega, about the sale of stolen vehicles in Chile and marketed in Bolivia, involves the deputy director of the Directorate for the Prevention of Vehicle Theft (Diprove)Colonel Rolando Téllez and the commander of the Uyuni Border Police, Colonel Raúl Cabezas Pantoja.
Once the images of the report were released, Téllez he was removed from his duties and placed at the disposal of the investigation for his alleged link to these cases, while Cabezas was apprehended at the border site to which he was assigned.
This was reported by the commander of the Santa Cruz Departmental Police, Colonel Érick Holguín, who indicated that Téllez is already withdrawn to the Departmental Command, made available to the General Directorate of Internal Police Investigation (Digipi) and now an investigative process has to be initiated to verify the complaint of that video.
inquiries they reached Zulema Cabezas Pantojasister of the colonel involved, who, initially, had in his possession a silver Mitsubishi vehicle, which also appears in the video of the report.
Sister assures that she obtained the vehicle as a pledge for a value of 8,000 dollars for the payment of professional fees (she is a lawyer) and that the house where the vehicle was stored does not belong to Raúl Cabezas.
Commander Holguín pointed out that, according to the latest investigations, the vehicle is already back in Chilean territory.
“Zulema Cabezas assures that alleged Diprove uniformed men went to her home for the report of the theft of the Mitsubishi van and she turned it in. She indicates that the vehicle is currently in Chilean territory,” Holguín mentioned.
However, the commander said that the Police have not yet received an official communication from Chile about the recovery of the vehicle.

The Meganoticias report began in March, when the team of journalists made contact with a group of Chilean researchers, dedicated to helping victims of theft in the neighboring country recover their vehicles. The representative is Hugo Bustos, a former police officer.
The journalists, accompanied by the investigators, they infiltrated the Yapacaní vehicle fair, where they found a stolen red truck in Chile. When confronting the seller of the motorcycle, he immediately contacted a police chief. Later it was learned that the officer they contacted was Téllez, who was being alerted to the situation.
In the report of Meganoticias also refer to the most recent police record of Cabezasto whom in 2018 the Police initiated a process after he was caught beating his ex-partner in an apparent drunken state.
“It will proceed according to the law. It is a customs entry issue and these vehicles are Chilean.We know, however, that there are a number of unauthorized roads and routeswhere these vehicles usually enter,” added Holguín.
