Guadalupe Vela and Cristina Beraún, close associates of President José Jerí, resigned from their public positions after it was revealed that they obtained state contracts after meeting with the president in his office late at night on November 1, 2025.
The women used their social media accounts to communicate the decision to resign from their positions.
Guadalupe Vela stated that, despite meeting “the technical requirements and experience,” she was “the subject of unfair public exposure that has included insinuations of a personal and sexual nature, as well as the delegitimization of my professional abilities.”
She indicated that the dissemination of the Cuarto Poder report has affected her honor and professional reputation, which is why she resigned from her position as advisor in the Ministry of the Environment.
According to journalist Carlos Viguria, citing official sources, Cristina Beraún, who also went to Jerí’s office the same day with Guadalupe Vela, presented her resignation.
It should be remembered that, according to the Cuarto Poder report, Vela was in Jerí’s office on November 1 of last year from 6:48 p.m. to 11:56 p.m. Later, on November 20, EsSalud granted him a service order for more than 6,330 soles.
That month she also received a contract as a locator through the Public Sector Management Support Fund (FAG) in the Environment portfolio for 11,000 soles.
Beraún, for his part, obtained a state contract for 6,500 soles for internal communication analysis tasks in the presidential office.
Others involved in the case, Violeta Veas, Fiorela Melgarejo and Alicia Camargo, have not commented on the matter at this time.
