Two people burned to death and five were injured in a fatal traffic accident, when a truck hit two vehicles, which immediately caught fire.
The event, which alarmed the community, occurred this Monday, the 6th, at 9 pm, on Circunvalación 1, in Maracaibo, in the vicinity of the Epa Hardware store, when the white Chevrolet Silverado 350 truck fell on top of a white Ford Laser vehicle which in turn collided with a Ford Taurus.
In this tragic event, Carlos Augusto Fuenmayor and Nury Coromoto Chacón lost their lives, burned by the flames; The following were injured: Andrés Araujo (11 years old), Anyeli Bolívar, Sandra Bolívar, Claudio Bolívar and Andrelis Herrera.
Engelbert Atencio, Commander of the Maracaibo Fire Department, reported that with hydraulic equipment they rescued the two charred corpses of the people who were traveling in the vehicle that remained under the truck. “They were compacted”
“Upon arrival we began to transfer the wounded to the University and Coromoto hospitals, they were admitted to the intensive care units. There was a fuel spill from the truck, causing a fire and immediately causing the burning of the vehicles and the people inside,” Atencio said.
In addition to the Maracaibo Fire Department, Civil Protection commissions, the National Guard and the National, regional and municipal Police also moved to the place; as well as volunteers who, together with tanks and fire extinguishers, dedicated themselves to extinguishing the fire, and then proceeded to rescue the victims.
The driver of the truck was arrested
After an intense search carried out by a PNB commission, attached to the Land Transit service, the driver of the truck was arrested, which caused the fateful accident.
The driver of the Silverado 350, license plate: A15AK9A, which hit the Tauro car and the Ford Lancer, was identified as Sigiberto Rafael González Tejeda, 51 years old.
Unofficial versions stated that González was positive in the breathalyzer test and was also speeding on the highway, known as Circunvalación 1.
Due to imprudence, González hit the Taurus and this in turn collided with the Ford Lancer; In addition, the Silverado fell on top of the Taurus, which caused it to catch fire.
It turned out that the deceased young man identified as Carlos Fuenmayor, had recently graduated as a senior computer technician and was the minor son of Nerio Fuenmayor, owner of the Patacones Nerio fast food restaurant, located on 40 Avenue in the San Francisco Municipality.
