Two members of the criminal organization founded by Carlos Enrique Gómez Rodríguez (El Conejo), were killed in a procedure where they seized war weapons.
The information was published on their social networks by General Domingo Hernández Lárez, head of the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Ceofanb), who explained that the “legal intervention” occurred in execution of the Bolivarian Shield operation, Chief Maracay.
Hernández Lárez revealed that during the operations, 14 sentry boxes built along the Autopista Regional del Centro have been destroyed, “used by criminal groups to alter social peace.”
As for the confrontation where the members of El Conejo were killed, it occurred in the Pie de Cerro sector, José Félix Rivas municipality (La Victoria), Aragua state. They were identified as Luis Adrián Rivero Lugo (El Cotí) and Ángel Xavier Telles Polanco (El Cigarro), according to a report from the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas).
At the end of the confrontation, the officials collected a 7.62 × 51 mm Light Automatic Rifle (FAL) with its respective charger, fourteen 7.62 × 51 mm cartridges, a Beretta PX4 pistol, 9 mm caliber, a 9 caliber pistol magazine mm and a radio transmitter.
And in the Sabaneta sector, José Rafael Revenga municipality (El Consejo), Aragua state, the military seized eight cartridges for 7.62×51 mm caliber rifles, which were transported by José Vicente Rodríguez Graterol.
The subject was handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office where they opened a file for illegal possession of war material. They are investigating whether the detainee is linked to the El Conejo organization, a group accused of terrorism, extortion and criminal association, among others, according to various files.
