The Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Drug-Related Crimes of Darién, in an Oral Trial hearing, obtained the sentence of 10 years in prison for Colombian citizens José Palacios Valencia and Julio Ibargüen Valencia, for the crime of aggravated possession of drugs.

It was up to the Circuit Prosecutor and Drug Coordinator, Emixse Victoria Soriano, to prove the criminal responsibility of those sentenced through documentary, expert and testimonial evidence, which was considered by the Court for the imposition of the sentence.

The event occurred on August 31, 2020, in the community of Playa Muerto, district of Chepigana, when the sentenced were apprehended in flagrante delicto inside a boat-type boat, after they threw 15 sacks into the sea with 785 packages with the amount of 470.25 kilograms of marijuana.
