Saint Peter of Macoris. A court in San Pedro de Macorís sentenced two men and one woman to seven, five and two years in prison respectively, accused by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of committing crimes of domestic violence and sexual abuse in different events that occurred in this province.
The Collegiate Court of San Pedro de Macorís sentenced Ricardo Jiménez to seven years in prison, who was accused of committing aggravated domestic violence against his partner, and Gabriel Freedman Lugo to five years for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl, while Diana Tailor (Feita) was sentenced to two years for committing domestic violence against her partner. The names of the victims were omitted to protect their identity.
The cases were reported through the Comprehensive Care Unit for Victims of Gender-Based Violence, Domestic Violence and Sexual Crimes in this town, as well as the Línea Vida Contact Center of the Attorney General’s Office, with the prosecuting body proceeding with the corresponding investigation.

In addition to the prison sentence imposed on him, Jiménez must pay one million in compensation to the victim, whom, according to the prosecution, he beat in 2021, while she was at his residence.
In the case of Freedman Lugo, in addition to the five-year prison sentence, he must pay a fine of RD$50,000 that was established by the court when it found him guilty of committing sexual and psychological abuse against the 10-year-old girl, whom he touched in her private parts when the victim was heading to a local school, in an event recorded in 2022.
Meanwhile, Tailor was sentenced to two years in prison for committing domestic violence against her partner, whom she verbally assaulted and threatened while he was in a batey in this province on May 12, 2021.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office obtained the imposition of the sentences after providing the court with sufficient evidence proving the guilt of the accused, who were found guilty of violating several articles of the Dominican Penal Code. The sentences will be served in different penitentiary facilities.
