Two medals for Cuba in wrestling tournament in Russia

Cuban wrestlers Reinieris Salas and Reinieri Anderu said goodbye with gold and silver medals, respectively, at the Dmitry Korkin 2022 international tournament, which was held in the Russian city of Yakutsk, where the Island presented itself with a small delegation of two booksellers.

The man from the capital, fifth place in the most recent edition of the World Championship, achieved four wins in a row in Friday’s qualifying rounds, but in the fight for the title he lost to Tiutrin, who had a tight 3-2 lead.

Julio Mendieta, head of the wrestling technical group, highlighted in JIT the performance of his disciples, as well as the possibility of holding these blank matches.

According to information, representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Mongolia, Armenia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Cuba and other former Soviet republics competed in the tournament.

This has been a year without great results for the fight, which for the first time since 1981 went without medals at the world event in Belgrade, Serbia.
