Around 3:30 a.m. this Sunday, there was an accident on the railway line that crosses Rancho Boyeros Avenue, in Havana, which left two people dead and two others in serious condition.
The accident was reported in a facebook group by citizen Javier Pérez, who identified himself as a paramedic and reported that a young woman was transferred with serious injuries to the Calixto García hospital. To date, the identity of the victims and the evolution of the injured are unknown.
Pérez explained that the emergency occurred on the Railway Line, in the vicinity of 100th Street, a crossroads where accidents are often recorded both due to the recklessness of drivers and due to poor road signs. The area is also an entry and exit point for the Ciénaga Workshop, intended for the repair of the trains that pass through the area.
“My apologies, brother, but that crossing has great visibility and the train can be felt from afar. For me it was the car driver’s recklessness. In addition, the train beeps like three times before the crossing,” citizen Hansell Pérez wrote in the publication. .
A young woman was transferred with serious injuries to the Calixto García hospital. To date, the identity of the victims is unknown.
While the user Iván Carrillo replied: “If you go on foot, you do feel the train down to the slightest of its vibrations, but if you go at night in a section where the permitted speed varies between 60 to 80 kilometers per hour (km/h), with wide lanes that lend themselves to acceleration, you have a place to start to understand the reason for things”.
In the same Facebook group, it was reported this Saturday that one person died and another was injured in a motorcycle accident. The citizen Lázaro Edel Martínez Juanola published a photograph showing the overturned unit in the middle of 23rd and 8th streets, in Havana, however, the post is no longer available.
The media outlet Cubita NOW recorded that, among the comments, Martínez Juanola explained that a red vehicle was also involved in the accident that “dragged him (the motorcycle) about 40 meters” from the point of impact.
