Those affected in the accident were referred to the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Provincial Hospital, from Bayamo. Dr. Adonis Frómeta Guerra, general director of the Health Center said that of the total injured, six were surgically intervened.

The lethality of traffic accidents in Cuba has been recognized by the government itself. During 2024, the National Road Safety Commission counted 7,507 traffic accidents throughout the country, 12% less than in 2023.
The Cuban authorities continue to attribute most of the claims to the “human factor”, and avoid deepening structural causes such as the deterioration of the road state, the low signaling or the public transport crisis, which forces many citizens to resort to insecure means of transport.
