Two people lost their lives and at least six were injured in a Traffic accident reported from Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba.
The incident happened on Saturday night, on the central highway of Arroyo Blanco, municipality of Palma Soriano, according to local sources.
The authorities reported six injured, who received medical attention in the hospitals of Contramastre and Palma Soriano.
The causes of the accident are being investigated and did not transcend details of the fact and the vehicles involved.
Since the beginning of 2025 there have been several massive accidents in the country and, at least five of them, with buses involved.
Because of another accident reported on January 26 in Holguin, the six travelers of a rental car to tourism died when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a metal pipe of a bridge.
A few days before, the collision of two buses left seven dead and 59 injured in the blind province of Ávila.
The first mass sinister of the year was recorded on January 2, when the driver of a passenger truck lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a deceased and 63 injured.
Cuba registered in 2024 a total of 7507 traffic accidents, 12 % less than those reported in the preceding year (8,556), according to official statistics released this week, recalls a report from EFE.
Among the main causes of the accident in the Cuban roads, were the lack of attention to the control of the vehicle, and not grant the right of road, in accordance with a report by the National Road Safety Commission.
They also highlight the poor state of the roads and of much of the state and private automotive park, with decades of use, in addition to the violations of the Traffic Code and the right of track.
