Two Colombians arrested for defrauding producers in Barinas

Two citizens, of Colombian nationality, were captured in Barinas for defrauding agricultural producers and merchants with false loans in foreign currency.

The procedure was carried out by the Strategic Intelligence Division (DIE) of the Bolivarian National Police, in the Campo La Mesa sector, Alto Barinas parish of the capital municipality.

Franklin Espinoza, director of the DIE in the llanera entity, reported that the detainees were identified as: Jorge Stiven Bonilla (20) and David Esneider Rodríguez Parra (29), both of Colombian nationality.

According to the investigation, the subjects belong to an international gang called Los Caliches, who recruited their victims and requested large sums of money for administrative expenses and permits for the entry of false currencies into the country.

“After the producers or merchants delivered the money to the individuals, they later delivered a safe with the loan but with totally false dollars,” Espinoza explained.

He mentioned that after making the negotiation, the criminals changed their telephone numbers and place of residence. But after the investigation they managed to find the whereabouts of the pair of individuals.

At the time of the apprehension, a safe, 200,000 false dollars, a printer and a cell phone were seized from them. The case was transferred to the corresponding Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry.
