Sol and Briza Sandoval Duarte have qualified for the South American Karate Championship, but they still do not have the funds to travel. Both are sisters, and they will compete in different categories, but they will do so under the representation of the country. The Vice Ministry barely offered them tickets, but nothing has yet been delivered.
Both need new equipment to enter the competition, and that these be approved by the organization, other than the stay, per diem, and etc. According to Sun, they need at least 7000 bolivianos to be able to arrive and compete calmly in Brazil.
At the moment they only gathered 1000 Bolivians with a solidarity raffle that will be held on April 9, and will have different prizes.
The South American Championship includes the categories of youth, Sub-21 and Seniors. Sol will compete in the Under-17 category (-53 kilos); while Briza will enter the Sub-21 and the Seniors (-61 kilos in both).
The Adib Moysés Dib Sports Center Gymnasium in Sao Paulo will be the home of this XXI South American Karate Championship. The competition dates will be from April 24 to 30.
It is not the first time that they have to look for it. In July 2022 they sold cinnamon rolls to get to Mexico and compete on behalf of Bolivia.
The Montereñas also achieved achievements:
Sol won the gold medal at the South American Youth Games in 2022, and Briza managed to win the WKF Karate Championship
