Officials from the Bolivarian National Police Corps arrested a woman and a man for child abuse in the state of Falcón.
The troops rescued a 10-year-old minor, who was locked and chained in a chair inside a home located in Cumarebo.
After several complaints received, those arrested were caught in flagrante delicto when a commission approached the property, where they found the boy without flannel, in pants, barefoot and with an iron chain on his right ankle, secured with a padlock. Those detained are the victim’s father and grandmother.
Once released, the minor was transferred to receive medical attention and placed under protection while the relevant investigations of the case progress, in order to determine how long he had been mistreated and if he suffered any other type of violence.
The PNB informed the Public Ministry about the case, which was made available to the 10th Prosecutor’s Office of the state of Falcón.
In another event, a fire that occurred in a home in the Mara municipality, in the state of Zulia, left two children dead and one minor surviving.
According to information from media in the region, the incident occurred in the El Curricán (El Moján) sector.
Three minors remained in the building when the fire started. One of them managed to get out in time, while the other two, approximately five years old, were trapped and died at the scene.
