News Colombia.

In 2018, Gladys Rodríguez Cañón traveled with her husband to enjoy a short vacation in the capital of Magdalena. The couple stayed at the Wind building in Playa Salguero, according to information reported in the local newspaper El Informador de Santa Marta.

On October 10 of that year and under strange circumstances, the then principal of the Pedagogical High School of Soacha, Cundinamarca, fell from the 17th floor of the building and died from the serious injuries suffered.

At that time, her husband Jorge Enrique Pulido Gaviria told authorities that his partner had attempted to take her own life by jumping from the top of the building; however, Gladys Cañón’s relatives had in mind that their loved one would not have made that fatal decision, since according to them, there was nothing that motivated her to do so.

At that time, the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences certified that the woman was not intoxicated, nor had she consumed psychoactive substances or medications that would incite her to engage in behavior that would harm her integrity, according to a report revealed on Sunday, July 21 by the Prosecutor’s Office.

After a long investigation, the prosecution charged Gladys Rodríguez’s husband with the crime of aggravated femicide. The Prosecutor’s Office concluded that Pulido Gaviria was lying: “His initial version does not match the one found and everything points to him being responsible for the death.”

The accused did not accept the charges and was placed at the disposal of a judge who ordered him to be imprisoned while other judicial proceedings are carried out.

His arrest took place on July 2 at the headquarters of the educational institution owned by the victim where he served as manager and legal representative, according to the aforementioned newspaper.
