Madrid Spain.- Twelve Cuban migrants were rescued this Thursday by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) when they were stranded in the Marquesas Keys, an uninhabited island west of Key West.
The Caribbean people had arrived in North American territory in a rustic boat, according to what was reported in their account. Twitter Walter N. Slosar, chief of the maritime rescue corps in the Miami Sector.
After being rescued, they were taken into custody by the US Border Patrol (USBP).

In these same keys, the authorities detained 42 Cuban rafters (19 men, 13 women and 10 minors). The last friday.
Most of the Cuban rafters arriving in US territory are being expeditiously deported to the island after receiving food and rigorous medical care.
Also this week it emerged that the Coast Guard had repatriated 64 Cubans intercepted near the Florida coast.
“Attempting to illegally migrate through the Straits of Florida and the Windward and Mona Passages with unseaworthy vessels is extremely dangerous. No one should risk their lives on unsafe rough-and-ready boats in unpredictable seas,” insisted Petty Officer 2nd Class Ryan Dickinson of the USCG 7th District.
However, Cubans continue to risk their lives every week at sea trying to escape from Cuba.
The current migration crisis has produced the highest figures in the last five years. Cubans flee the country by the thousands, both by sea, land and air.
Since October 1, 2021, the start of the current fiscal year, to date, US Coast Guard crews have intercepted nearly 5,000 rafters.
While in the same period, by land, more than 180,000 Cubans arrived in the northern country, according to data shared by the Department of Customs and Border Protection.
