Twelve arrested for disturbances after La Renga concert

Riots after the concert of the Argentine rock band, La Renga, held at the Campus of Maldonadoculminated in the arrest of 12 people for different acts.

The event brought together thousands of people who traveled from different parts of Uruguay as well as Argentina. Given this, the operation had the presence of Republican Guard personnel to provide support.

Initially, the Maldonado Police arrested four people for causing disorder on public roads. However, a few hours later, the Prosecutor’s Office ordered his release.

In the morning hours of this Sunday, the Police received the complaint about people who stayed overnight at the Maldonado Terminal. These people, according to the complainant, generated disorder on the site.

Police officers went to the site and upon arrival they found these people (five men and three women). The agents requested that they leave the site, but this group refused and resisted the police action, for which they were arrested. The detainees are at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office.

On the other hand, according to FM Gente radio, residents of the Fernandina capital denounced thefts and damage to their land. In dialogue with the issuing file, the president of the Departmental Board, Damián Tort, commented that robberies were recorded in the departmental legislative property.

According to the legislator, followers of La Renga made a barbecue on the property and used boxes from the premises to light the fire. Also, these people stole two coils, one with cables and others without cables.
