TV Brasil is one of the winners of the Sebrae Journalism Award

TV Brasil was one of the winners of the national stage of the 12th edition of the Sebrae Journalism Award. The episode Business 60+, the power of experiencefrom the program Reporting Pathswon first place in the Video Journalism category. Produced by Carina Dourado, Patrícia Araújo, Sigmar Gonçalves, Rafael Calado and Márcio Stuckert, the report portrays the aging of the Brazilian population and the advancement of the so-called silver economy, also known as the longevity economy.

In Brazil, the 60+ population (15.6%) surpassed the number of young people between 15 and 24 years old (14.8%), according to IBGE. With more time ahead after retirement, entrepreneurship has gained strength in this age group: between 2012 and 2023, there was a 42% growth in the number of business owners over 60 years old.

“Receiving this award is deeply gratifying. It shows that Caminhos’ reports have told stories that impact lives, brought data that reveal the country’s reality and given visibility to people who often go unnoticed by society. Talking about longevity in Brazil and how it transforms some sectors of the country is shedding light on challenges that already affect us and that will certainly influence the future of all of us”, said reporter Carina Dourado.

The episode presents examples of entrepreneurs over 60 who reinvented themselves in the job market. It highlights the advantages of older entrepreneurs, such as resilience and experience, and the challenges they face.
