TV Brasil celebrates 17 years with new programming

Every minute, more than 183 thousand people tune in to the channel, with the possibility of following television news products, children’s attractions, series, sports, films, television dramas, musicals and entertainment. According to data from Kantar Ibope Media, public TV currently occupies fifth place among the most watched open broadcasters in the country, in all states, plus the Federal District. In 2017, the hearing of the TV Brasil it reached 27th place, in competition for audience with the large commercial communication networks.

In 2024, the partnership with broadcasters from National Public Communication Network (RNCP) provided access to the programming of the TV Brasil of more than 128 million citizens. Currently, the RNCP operates 126 television affiliates and 162 radio generators throughout the national territory.

Challenges

In an interview with the TV Brasilthe CEO of EBC he added that the broadcaster will have more investments in national and regional content; in Brazilian audiovisual; in sport, with emphasis on women’s football; in entertainment and cultural production, and above all, in strengthening journalism, which holds the daily information necessary to be brought to the Brazilian population and which plays an important role in combating fake news.

Jean Lima highlighted that investments are being made in the production of national audiovisual content for the communication channel. “THE EBC launched the historic notice with more than R$110 million in investment in audiovisual across seven areas of activity, which involve children’s and youth programming, series about nature, the environment, and cooking. The idea is also to produce a soap opera, which we have the rights to from the writer Janete Clair, from what was a radio soap opera on Rádio Nacional”.

Projections

For 2025, the president of EBC projects that the public broadcaster will be a protagonist in the coverage of two international events, like what happened in the G20 image broadcastsin Rio de Janeiro, in November. Next year, Brazil will assume the presidency of Brics, a bloc originally formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and which was expanded by the participation of Saudi Arabia, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Ethiopia.

Brazil will also host the 2025 United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP 30, in Belém do Pará, in November, “We intend to be the host broadcaster in these two events to transmit to everyone what is of paramount importance for the debate on strengthening multilateralism and, also, to discuss a more just and sustainable world.”

Journalism

The director of Journalism at EBCCidinha Matos, highlights the strengthening of public communication journalism in TV Brasil and the growth in the participation of stations from the National Public Communication Network with content that values ​​regional and cultural diversity.

“Our journalism has gained relevance and credibility. We have grown in audience, in participation in major debates, and we are increasingly committed to bringing quality information, responsibly and providing a service to our viewers.”

The director of Content and Programming at EBCAntonia Pellegrino, emphasized the role of TV Brasil of being the Brazilian media that offers quality and diverse programming, that dialogues with the diversity of the Brazilian population, and that focuses on culture, education and information.

The director announced the news of the program TV Brasilstarting next week: the new season of the program Samba na Gamboa, led by singer and songwriter Teresa Cristina, and the cooking program Xodó de Cozinha, which will be presented by the founder of the Favela Orgânica project, Regina Tchelly.

Social media

THE TV Brasil It also stood out as the federal institution with the highest engagement on social media. According to a survey by Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), which analyzed 136 federal institutions, the broadcaster has established itself as the main means of digital public communication in the country.

According to director Antonia Pellegrino, this result was achieved through the creation of exclusive content and the right choices of what is aired, and the ability of public TV to establish a dialogue with its audience.

“We need to think that the audience is not just measured by the numbers of people who watch on television. There are people who watch us on platforms, on social media. There is a multiple variety of means to access the content of the TV Brasil”.
