TV Brasil shows the emotions of the parade of the samba schools of the Prata Series in Rio de Janeiro, exclusively on the small screen, direct from Intendente Magalhães, on Sunday and Monday, February 15th and 16th, live, on the network, for the entire country, at 8:30 pm and 9 pm, respectively. The broadcast starts earlier, at 6pm, on Public broadcaster YouTube.
The program is presented by journalists Tiago Alves, Bia Aparecida and Flávia Grossi. The hosts receive special guests in the studio to discuss the performance of the associations and evaluate the evolution of the schools seeking to secure a place in the Gold Series to parade in Sapucaí in 2027.
Reporter Anna Karina follows the groups’ preparations and shows the heat at the start of the parades, straight from the gathering. Information about the end of the performances, in the dispersion, is provided by reporters Fernanda Cruz on Sunday (15) and Vladimir Platonow on Monday (16).
Tiago Alves and Bia Aparecida take charge of the festivities on Sunday (15), while Flávia Grossi pairs with the journalist on the public channel’s thematic track on Monday (16). In two days, Estrada Intendente Magalhães welcomes 29 groups that represent popular culture with the strength of communities.
The parade brings together well-known samba schools that have already been part of the Rio de Janeiro Special Group such as Renascer de Jacarepaguá, Vizinha Faladeira, Tradição, Lins Imperial, Império da Tijuca, São Clemente, Acadêmicos da Rocinha and Leão de Nova Iguaçu, among other pavilions.
To comment on the TV Brasil broadcast, the guests this Sunday (15) are researcher Bia Chaves, cultural producer Helyane Silsan, samba singer Millena Wainer, journalist Rodrigo Santos and choreographer Marcos Bandeira.
On Monday (16), the broadcaster welcomes other experts to the studio. The special production features journalist Suelen Martins, drum director Thayane Cantanhêde, drum master Dinho Santos and samba player Pedro Araújo.
Regulation details
The samba school with the highest score in the Silver Series guarantees a place in the Gold Series to parade in Marquês de Sapucaí in 2027. The four associations with the worst ratings on each day will be demoted to the Bronze Series next year.
The regulations require at least 700 components for the 35 to 40 minute presentation. The samba schools in the Silver Series must travel through Intendente Magalhães with a minimum of two and a maximum of four floats. The front committee must have between ten and 12 members. Samba schools must still parade with at least 120 rhythmists, 30 members per plot wing and a couple of master room and flag bearer.
The parade on Sunday (15) brings together 14 schools that present themselves in the following order: Mocidade Unida do Santa Marta, Arrastão de Cascadura, Tubarão de Mesquita, Renascer de Jacarepaguá, União do Parque Curicica, Independente da Praça da Bandeira, Chatuba de Mesquita, Vizinha Faladeira, Unidos de Lucas, Independentes de Olaria, Tradição, Lins Imperial, União de Jacarepaguá and Acadêmicos do Cubango.
In the second (16), the Silver Series has 15 associations that enter the track in sequence: Império da Tijuca, Flamanguaça, Feitiço Carioca, Siri de Ramos, Acadêmicos da Abolição, Império de Nova Iguaçu, São Clemente, Acadêmicos do Dendê, Acadêmicos do Engenho da Rainha, Unidos de Santa Tereza, Acadêmicos da Rocinha, Acadêmicos de Santa Cruz, Alegria do Vilar, Leão de Nova Iguaçu and Império da Uva.
