Collapsed buildings, more than 60,000 dead, more than 1,000,000 deprived of the basics. Survivors with traumas from having been in the line of terror. Hundreds of thousands of infants deprived of families, of relatives, of people who could watch over them.
Some kind soul has taken care of someone, for example, a Syrian family has just adopted the baby that was born in the ruins!
A tragedy, obviously, a tragedy of magnitude and unfortunately in countries that either do not have great resources or that suffer the ignominy of their miseries. Little by little we forget about the victims who are still standing and we think that, well, being an act of natural accident, little can be done. We left everything in the hands of NGOs, the Red Cross, the international rescue volunteers who were present at the scene shortly after the earthquake was known. His heroics are truly impressive, working from sunrise to sunset, with no other equipment, in many cases, than his hands. The silence to listen to possible survivors is not only a physical silence but also a human one, hearts that stop beating in order to hear more clearly the faint moans, as faint as a sigh.
And so more people were found to be rescued.
Hours passed and the hopes of finding someone alive were dissipating like the hope when there is a dying human somewhere. There is no chance of any more survivors, however, many, many, continue scraping the rubble and listening, sending dogs, which are also silent at the word of silence. And in this a little moan like the meowing of a wounded cat, a sound so small that it is hardly recognized as something. A volunteer puts her ear to the cement mass, asks for more silence and everyone is silent, machines stop making noise, nobody breathes for eternal seconds. Yes, obviously it can be a halo of hope. Slowly, hands remove each stone, each rubble is deposited on the ground like a very expensive jewel so as not to make a sound.
Under a concrete wall, a little face, a little body, a hand covering and protecting another little body. Both alive! The girl, about seven years old, protecting her little brother from about three of hers, asks in a heartbreaking voice for help: “We will be your slaves for life, please save us,” are her first words.
The work begins, stone, clod, dust removed. Water for both of you and life smiles again on those faces devastated by tons of weight on their souls.
Miracle! Miracle! Again the words, looks at the sky. ala is big!, Holy God!, Christ!, Jehovah, Buddha and all the saints of the immense sky be praised for allowing the life of these creatures! Now everyone keeps thinking, will there be more? Let’s continue among the slight noise of removing the rocks and dust, hope continues renewed by a smile, which also protected his brother who, with an iron hand, made him live and now they both live!
Meanwhile, what awaits them, no one knows or ever will. Another tragedy, lamented and noted as one more.
The reconstruction of everything, whenever it comes, don’t wait! That they are not the usual ones who are going to support raising stone upon stone again. That now the big ones commit to supporting the reconstruction of two countries, no, no, no. Out of three, out of five, out of ten. Isn’t Europe giving lots of money for weapons in the Ukraine? Aren’t they just happy talking about more tanks and planes and more money to keep the world from disappearing under a dark cloud of God knows what? So quick to incentivize more kills by giving money and challenging each other.
The males have once again shown their destructive phallus, once again they show that only courage is the one that fixes, the heroes are those who have killed the most. Putin, virtuous defender of life, killing, Bush defender of life, killing, Europe defender of life by killing. Ukraine victim capable of resisting by putting all its people on the guillotine of war. Talking, ha ha, ha, that’s for cowards, you only talk when you’re in a position to break, before it’s a laugh. And Haiti continues alone as will Turkey and Syria and Puerto Rico, in short, all the countries that live on the brink of social or political collapse.
