Turkey and Panama sign cooperation agreement for tourism development

A cooperation agreement to promote tourism development projects with a cultural, academic, sports, gastronomic and ecological approach was agreed today between the governments of Turkey and Panama.

Between 2021 and 2022, three agreements have been signed with Turkish universities that seek to strengthen the academic offer for Panamanians: in maritime and educational-cultural cooperation with the Center for Maritime Law (DEHUKAM) of the University of Ankara and the University of Panama and another, with the Technological Institute of Istanbul and the Technological University of Panama.

In the commercial area, both governments agreed to increase the commercial volume and promote Panama’s exports to Turkey and agreed to generate commercial tours to promote Panamanian products and encourage Turkish investment given the incentives offered by the country for it.

In addition, at the regional level, the strengthening of diplomatic, political, economic and cooperation relations with the Central American Integration System (SICA), a regional bloc where Turkey has been a Regional Observer since 2015 and with which it established the Forum of Political Dialogue and Cooperation, in 2019.

Turkish support for SICA lies particularly in the areas of sustainable human development, early warning, emergency and prevention mechanisms, especially the fight against diseases such as Zika and COVID-19.
