Miami– The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic and Visa Inc. announced a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening the country’s tourism promotion and further consolidating the Dominican Republic as one of the leading destinations in the Caribbean.
In 2025, the Dominican Republic will exceed 11.6 million visitors, reaffirming its regional leadership and its positioning as the main tourist destination in the Caribbean. This new agreement focuses on continuing to elevate the traveler experience, strengthening loyalty and generating a deeper and lasting connection between those who visit the country and its tourist offer.
Visa, with a presence in more than 200 countries and territories and millions of cardholders around the world, has one of the most extensive, secure and reliable digital payment networks globally. Its reach will amplify the visibility of the Dominican Republic in strategic markets such as the United States, the main source of tourists to the country, as well as in Canada, Europe and Latin America.
The alliance makes the Dominican Republic the first country in the Caribbean to conclude this type of agreement with Visa. It contemplates the development of joint promotional initiatives, segmented campaigns, exclusive benefits and experiences aimed at international travelers, as well as strategic activations that encourage travel and consumption at the destination.
The objective is clear: not only to attract more tourists, but to strengthen the relationship with those who already choose the country. The aim is to accompany the visitor at every stage of their trip, from planning to their return home, offering more fluid, safe and memorable experiences. This collaboration will enrich your stay, facilitate your interaction with the local offering – hotels, gastronomy, entertainment, shops and cultural experiences – and generate an emotional bond that transcends the trip. The goal is for each tourist to not only return, but to become an ambassador of the destination.
The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, stated:
“Today we take a firm step towards a more modern, more connected and more people-centered tourism. This alliance with Visa strengthens our vision of placing the visitor experience at the center of everything we do.
We want every tourist who arrives in the Dominican Republic to feel valued, supported and positively surprised at every moment of their stay. “We are building a tourism model that generates lasting links, drives returns and turns each visit into a story that deserves to be told.”
For his part, Jorge Lemus, senior vice president and general manager for the Caribbean and Central America of Visa, expressed that this agreement represents an important step towards a more innovative, inclusive and sustainable tourism development model.
With this initiative, the Ministry of Tourism reaffirms its commitment to promoting more humane, innovative and excellence-oriented tourism, consolidating the international projection of the Dominican Republic as a world-class destination.
