Who is Katherine Harington?
The lawyer Katherine Haringhton has been one of the tabs of the Nicolás Maduro administration, but since 2018 she has not held a position in the public administration, after being fired by the prosecutor imposed by the constituent, Tarek William Saab, as deputy attorney general of the Public Ministry.
Haringhton had been appointed on July 4, 2017 by the Supreme Court of Justice in the midst of anti-government protests and in a Public Ministry that was still led by Luisa Ortega Díaz.
Upon his appointment, Harington tried on July 7, 2017 to try to enter the headquarters of the Prosecutor’s Office hidden in the suitcase of a vehicle, property of the 2nd prosecutor Narda Dianette Sanabria Bernatte, who accused the opposition leader Leopoldo López. She was on two floors of the MP before security personnel removed her from the site.
She is also known for being the one who accused the metropolitan mayor of Caracas, Antonio Ledezma, for the alleged crimes of organizing and executing violent acts against the national government.
Among other things, it commissioned a prosecutor to review the case of the 14 Polichacao officials imprisoned in El Helicoide despite the fact that they have release tickets, which the Truth Commission later ordered the release of 12 of those officers, while two are still in custody.
