TSJ safeguards the continuity of the State, government management and the defense of sovereignty

The vice president of the Social Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, Judge Carlos Alexis Castillo Ascanio, in his speech as speaker of the order of the Solemn act on the occasion of the Opening of Judicial Activities for the year 2026 and presentation of the Management Report corresponding to the year 2025, highlighted that the Supreme Court of Justice acted with the urgency that the country demanded on January 3, in the face of the act of illicit aggression and asserted constitutional supremacy and He raised the flag of sovereignty and national dignity.

Before the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, and the authorities present, Judge Castillo explained how the Constitutional Chamber, in a transcendental decision of January 3, 2026, “safeguarded the continuity of the State, the management of government and the defense of sovereignty in the face of the forced absence of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro and the first lady, Cilia Flores,” he said.

Castillo assured that the Constitution of Venezuela and its institutions are up to this time. “Let us not retreat from the difficulties that the international de facto power has generated by desecrating the sky and the sacred soil of the Homeland of Bolívar,” he stated.

In the opinion of the Judiciary that he represents, the vice president of the Social Cassation Chamber said that “the continuity of the State remains intact, thanks to the thorough performance of the direction of the country by the acting president Delcy Rodríguez Gómez.”

Judiciary set out an update agenda during the year 2025

During his speech as the keynote speaker at the Solemn event on the occasion of the Opening of Judicial Activities for the year 2026 and presentation of the Management Report for the year 2025, the vice president of the Social Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, Judge Carlos Alexis Castillo Ascanio, offered the authorities present at the headquarters of the highest court more achievements that add to a management full of commitment and responsibility.

  • Access to justice has been strengthened through the expansion of the Mobile Courts Program.
  • The Venezuelan Judiciary demonstrated that it could respond to extraordinary situations as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, enhancing the plans that were already being developed in technological matters, accelerating the implementation of certain procedural actions, including the holding of telematic hearings.
  • The TSJ has implemented the use of artificial intelligence tools that can be used to optimize information systematization processes.
  • He achieved the consolidation of communal peace justice, through the creation of a special jurisdiction in the exercise of participatory and leading democracy.
  • Increase of 208.48% in labor cases received, between 2022 and 2025. This percentage reflects a clear upward vector in terms of the country’s economic recovery, on the one hand. And on the other hand, these data express confidence in conflict resolution bodies, due to the balance, fairness and transparency of the decisions they are making.
  • Jurisprudential progress was made by addressing teleworking as a modality.
  • Innovative interpretations of existing legal norms were made that streamlined procedures and processes in favor of defendants.
  • In terms of protection, it is appropriate to highlight the measures issued that favored hundreds of children and adolescents held in situations of extreme vulnerability in the United States, by ordering the authorities of that country to return them immediately and safely to Venezuela, safeguarding their physical and moral integrity to reunite with their families.

The vice president of the Social Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, Judge Carlos Alexis Castillo Ascanio, concluded his participation by indicating that the actions of this judicial year signal a new moment for justice. «The justice that we have always assured, but more extensive and intense. The same impartial justice as always, but now more inclusive. A justice more committed to reaching all corners of Venezuela. A more expeditious and, above all, equitable justice,” he stated.
