The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), through decision No.. 533, declared the constitutionality of Decree No.. 5.118, signed by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, which establishes the state of economic emergency throughout the national territory for a period of sixty (60) days.
The aforementioned decree, at the request of the President, was reviewed by the highest court in the country who validated that it complies with the parameters established in the Magna Carta to guarantee the country’s economic and social stability in a context of significant challenges.
Decree No.. 5.118 aims to implement extraordinary measures that allow addressing the current economic situation, in order to protect the fundamental rights of citizens and promote collective well -being.
